“You must be completely awake in the present to enjoy the tea. Only in the awareness of the present, can your hands feel the pleasant warmth of the cup.”
Thich Nhat Hanh
I have been trained in tea ceremony in the method of “Gongfu Cha” (工夫茶), which roughly translates as “skill of tea”. This style of preparing and serving tea is not as formal as the Japanese style of serving tea, but it is not entirely casual either. I think of Gongfu Cha as the middle way of serving tea. I work with various types of tea such as jasmine, white, green, black, and pu’er.
I am currently offering free weekly tea service at Sweetwater Zen Center at the Welcome Center.
If you would like to know more, please send me a note and we can have a nice chat about tea.
